Having a keen interest in people and behavior, Kareena took up Psychology and thereafter completed her Masters in Social Work – an intense course with theory and field work. A year at Satyam Foundation gave her the start in the CSR and Employee Volunteering area. She primarily managed the HIV/AIDS vertical in Chennai which gave her the opportunity to organize in-house awareness sessions for all employees and contract staff, conducting fun activities on the theme, and also in organizing volunteering opportunities directly benefitting people living with HIV/AIDS.
A 3.5 year stint at CII Regional and State Offices, gave her a better understanding of Development Initiatives in areas of CSR, Environment and Sustainability, Skill Development, Affirmative Action and Disability. Interacting with top business leaders, Government Officials, NGO personnel and working with them on workshops, events and policy changes were among the few important aspects at CII.
After a short break for motherhood, Kareena started working at iVolunteer facilitating training programs for NGOs, organizing orientations and creating volunteering opportunities for corporate partners, matching skills of volunteers to the needs of NGO Partners.
Kareena now volunteers for different organisations/projects since she moved to Australia a couple of years ago.
