Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action
YUVA engages volunteers to learn and benefit from their expertise and skills. They provide detailed orientation and project-specific training to the volunteers before they engage them in service. Through various events and activities, YUVA promotes volunteering in the society by emphasising on the importance of transformative social change through collective action. YUVA aims to empower the oppressed and the marginalised by facilitating organisations and institutions towards building equal partnerships in the development process, ensuring the fulfilment of the human rights to live in security, dignity and peace. They also look forward to engaging in critical partnerships with the government and forge alliances with other actors of civil society such as people’s movements, trade unions, women’s groups, academic institutions and private sector players to enable and strengthen the people’s empowerment process. The primary roles for the volunteers include communication and documentation of YUVA events and activities- research of on-ground efforts, assisting in online and offline campaigns run by YUVA. The volunteers also help in preparing promotional material to helping with program planning, helping in archiving work, digitization and cataloguing of books in the YUVA library as well as attend workshops and seminars to further their understanding of development sector issues.
