At the tender age of only 16, Tanmayi Shinde has taken leaps and bounds in initiatives to keeping her city clean. She volunteers to spread awareness regarding the need for cleanliness through skit performances in buses, bus depots and railway stations. Last year, Tanmayi along with some other volunteers formed a human chain from Sinhagad Road to Sinhagad Fort to spread awareness against the use of plastic. ‘Cleanliness in the hallmark of perfect standards and the best quality inspector is conscience’- J. R. D. Tata. This quote is precisely what Tanmayi Shinde believes in. She says that doing things that make you feel good is selfish but, in this case, she doesn’t mind being selfish.
